June 8, 2007 - It has taken a week, but the living room is finally cleared of all but one piece of furniture. Everyone's least loved part of our house, the wood paneling, is next.

June 8, 2007 - The Control Center itself is too large and awkward to remove from the room, plus we had no room to store it, so we settled for parking it in the middle of the floor.

June 8. 2007 - For the first time, we get a really good look at the floor beneath the carpet. It looks good, except for a spot in one corner (out of range) that looks like someone kept a refrigerator there for a long time.

August 8, 2007 - It has been two months now and the walls have been opened up, insulation has been installed, and the wallboard is going in. This is the corner between the french doors and the back door.

August 8, 2007 - I prepare an area so we can install a piece of wallboard. Rather than tear out the window moulding, I opted to make surgical cuts in the existing wallboard about 4 inches from the trim, enough to install the insulation, then close these areas up again with cut pieces of wallboard.

August 8, 2007 - This is the wall that was revealed when we removed the paneling. The cut to the right is where a wall heater used to be mounted. The trimmed away area to the left is for access to install new electrical.

This is the wall facing the kitchen, also showing the surgical cuts. The cut to the left is for access to install new electrical. The cut to the right is for access to the range hood in the kitchen. We are taking this opportunity to refresh the electrical in the kitchen because this is the only way in. The kitchen is finished in thick Ponderosa Pine boards.
