This is the actual color scheme that my engine was painted in when removed from the donor car. Note the harmonic balance wheel and oil cap are painted the engine color, not black as in the previous illustration. [Source: 1963 Valiant sales brochure]

This is the donor car. A 1965 Valiant 200 with just enough body cancer to make me run screaming. There is an entire album devoted to this car elsewhere in the gallery.

This is the engine as it appeared when I bought it. This car has an AC unit, but I am not sure it is original. I think it is a well done aftermarket install. I will try to preserve it for another car.

Note that there are no cups in the spark plug wells. I snagged a set from a car I sent to the shredder as replacements.

Birds eye view, shortly before the engine was lifted out of the car. I had to modify my shop and add a chain hoist to my arsenal of tools to accomplish this.

Icky slag chokes off the inlet of the water pump. It is clear that there has been no circulation through the cooling system for some time.

Meanwhile, pure clean anti-freeze pours from the top heater hose nipple. It never circulated, so it never got dirty.
